Oz Gardening Home

Having plants and greenery around you is said to be very soothing and peaceful. People who have difficulty controlling their temper are advised to have greenery and plants around them. Just by looking at the greenery you can reduce your anger to a great extent. Besides that, gardening itself is a good hobby. You feel closer to nature and now with the ever increasing concrete jungle and the depletion of the ozone layer, the time is apt to start gardening.

Garden Landscaping

Landscaping basically is an art of garden designing. It enhances the look of the garden and makes it more attractive and approachable. The secret of good garden landscaping is to combine the beauty and the practicality of landscaping.

Garden Plants

In Australia about 1000 species of plants are poisonous and harmful for the livestock and the humans. The poisonous native species belong to about 70 of the more than 200 native plant families. The families that have more than 10 toxic species are the legumes (Fabaceae, Mimosaceae), the spurges (Euphorbiaceae), the cycads (Cycadaceae, Zamiaceae), the riceflowers (Thymelaeaceae), the nightshades and tobaccos (Solanaceae), the grasses (Poaceae), the saltbushes (Chenopodiaceae) and the buttercups (Ranunculaceae). Hence, while selecting plants for your garden you have to be very careful and well-versed with all the species of plants.

Garden Supplies

Now that you have decided to revamp your garden, you will need a number of garden supplies and equipments to maintain it. Garden supplies include irrigation and drainage, water features, lighting, kerbs, steps or pavers, manure, soil, rocks, mulch, garden edging, timber or steel, conditioners and fertilizers. Garden equipments include lawn mowers and gardening tools such as a tree planter, garden dibber, groove knife, hedge shears, bulb planter and rose de-thorner.

Garden Lighting

Your garden is ready for everyone to see and you are very proud of all the hard work that has gone in to it to make it just the way you wanted. You invite your friends over for a drink or two and dinner later on to show off your carefully decorated garden. Drinks are over and dinner is served too but not one word of praise for the garden from any one of them. You get frustrated and you are wondering all along what could have possibly gone wrong. Before blaming your friends for not noticing anything different, stop and think! Is it because it's not good enough for a praise or they simply haven't noticed it because the lighting was so bad that they couldn't really differentiate between your earlier garden and the garden now.
